Jackson Beard is this month’s featured student and for all the right reasons. He exhibits many of the qualities we at Music of Oz try to instill in all of our students: an eagerness to learn, dedication, a passion for music and art, and positivity and confidence. Jackson, who is currently a sophomore in high school, began percussion lessons at Music of Oz at the age of 10, after his family moved to Indiana. Jackson’s dedication to percussion and learning is inspiring. He is always improving and expanding his abilities, not just on drum set, but in the mallet percussion and concert percussion families as well. Jackson’s dedication to practice and attention to detail has quickly made him one of our most advanced percussion students, and he continues to improve with every lesson. He is even a willing participant in the not-always-fun-but-important music theory lessons Roye gives him/tortures him with. We’re proud to call Jackson a Music of Oz student!
