This week it gives the Music of Oz great pleasure to present our next Student of the Week, Anna Bontempo. Anna is a senior and an honor student at Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana. Her passions are violin and computers. In the fall, Anna will be attending Purdue Northwest where she will major in Computer Technology while continuing her violin lessons at Music of Oz.

Anna first came to the studio six months ago and has been studying with Mrs. Jennifer Redlarczyk. In asking Anna what made her take up the violin as a senior she said, “I’ve always loved music. I studied violin for about two years when I was much younger and wanted to try again.” Anna is very dedicated to her renewed interest in violin and tries to practice at least an hour each day when not pressed with homework or working part-time. Interestingly, Anna has built the computer she uses at home.

According to her teacher, Anna is an enthusiastic and dedicated student, and has made excellent progress during the short time she has been studying at the studio. Anna will be performing on our spring recital and hopes to join a community orchestra once school lets out in June.

Mrs. Red would like to offer her personal congratulations. “Anna is very musical and a joy to work with. The effort that she has put into learning a difficult instrument over the past six months has paid off as Anna is progressing very well. Keep up the good work, Anna!” We offer our congratulations to Anna and wish her the best in pursuing her college studies at Purdue and with her continued study of the violin.
