BRIANNA RHOMBERG
This week it gives the Music of Oz great pleasure to congratulate and feature one of our violin students, Brianna Rhomberg, who recently auditioned for the Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra and was accepted. A sixteen year old Junior at Lake Central High School, Brianna has been playing the violin since she was ten years old and is currently a student of Jennifer Redlarczyk.
At present, the Lake Central District does not have a string program. This year, however, Brianna was instrumental in forming a string club at the high school where students practice twice a week and will perform at several school sponsored functions throughout the year. In addition, Brianna is a member of the advanced Hand Bell Choir under the direction of Mr. Nathaniel Jones.
The youth orchestra is a unique organization which sponsors more than ninety students from communities located primarily in Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper and LaPorte Counties. Last spring, Brianna downloaded the audition materials from the orchestra web site. The music was very challenging and she spent several months preparing, taking extra lessons during the summer and practicing long hours to meet the audition deadline on October 21. The first orchestra concert of the season will be on December 2, 2018 at Morton High School in Hammond under the direction of Mr. Philip Bauman, conductor. Brianna is thrilled to be a part of such a highly motivated and talented group of young people and looks forward to her Sunday afternoon practices. We wish Brianna Rhomberg well and look forward to hearing more from this very talented violist.
Good Job, Brianna! ~ Mrs. Red ♫
